Quality Control
The department of “Research & Development and Quality Assurance” consists of 4 laboratories (Research & Development, Quality Control, Microbiological Analysis and Instrumental Analysis), which are staffed by specialized scientists (Chemists, Agriculturalists, Chemical Engineers, Food Technicians, Biologists etc.)
These labs are equipped with analytical equipment of the latest technology for quality control of raw materials and final products of the company as well as for the design and development of new products. They are housed in owned premises with a total area of 800 sq. metres.
Apart from regular analytical techniques, the laboratories of Research & Development and Quality Assurance also undertake the following processes:
• Gas chromatography / mass spectrometry GC/MS: Analysis for traces of fertilisers in a variety of primary materials and products.
• RT–PCR: Analysis of raw materials for genetically modified organisms or for the certification of the presence of certain pathogenic microorganisms (e.g. Salmonellas sp. , E. Sakazaki).
• ELISA: Analysis for polluters such as Mycotoxins and Allergens.
• High Performance Liquid (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC) for measurement of vitamins and analysis of fatty acids profile.
• Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, (AAS) for analytical determination of metals and heavy metals.
• Enzyme Analyses for elements such as sulphites, Glucose, Sugar, Lactose and other sugars.
• Microbiological Vitamin Analyses
• VIDAS: Automatic Multiparameter Analyzer for the detection of pathogenic micro-organisms.
• Near-Infrared Spectroscopy FT-NIR for quality controls and quantitative identification of recipes.
• Rancimat for the determination of the oxidative stability of fatty substances
• Spectroscopy NMR MiniSpec to determine fat content
• Rapid Microbiological Techniques
